After spending much of his early career singing forlorn laments of lost love (“When I Call Your Name,” “Never Knew Lonely,” “Tryin’ to Get Over You”), this collection finds Vince wrapping his satiny voice around some of his best love songs, all culled from his past albums. Fan favorites “When Love Finds You,” “Whenever You Come Around” and “Faint of Heart” (featuring Diana Krall) are offset by worthy but lesser-known album cuts, including “Nothing Like a Woman” and the striking “What They All Call Love” featuring Faith Hill. While such classics as the soulful “If You Ever Have Forever in Mind” didn’t make the list, Love Songs makes a fine soundtrack for Valentine’s Day.
