Kacey Musgraves is on quite a roll. Her album Same Trailer Different Park was roundly loved by nearly everyone and even won a Grammy award for Best Country Album. The lovefest continues this weekend, when Kacey plays on the revered live music show Austin City Limits. In an interview for the show, Kacey discusses her songwriting, which has been called “controversial” by some. She disagrees.

“To me, the things that I write about aren't controversial,” she says. “If you listen back to Hank Williams or Willie Nelson or people like George Jones, they’re singing about a lot of the same things I am. To me, I feel like I’m just doing my job as a songwriter, taking the world around me that inspires me, putting it into songs, and hopefully people relate to that.” Catch a clip of Kacey singing “Stupid” from ACL below and watch her episode on Feb. 9.
