Kip Moore Reveals the Story Behind “Dirt Road”

A video look behind the scenes of Kip’s latest single.

He’s good-looking, athletic and has three No. 1 hits under his belt, including “Somethin’ ’Bout a Truck,” “Beer Money” and “Hey Pretty Girl.” But it’s Kip’s latest single, “Dirt Road,” that has him digging deep into his background.

“We were all sitting around the writing room the day we wrote it,” Kip says. “And we were all talking about the similar backgrounds that we’d come from—from, you know, small-town baptist communities—and what that was like being a young teenage kid. You know, at 12 and 13 years old, trying to wrap my head around hellfire, damnation every single Sunday was a very heavy thing.”

Kip, who comes from Tifton, Ga., can be seen out on Tim McGraw’s Sundown Heaven Town Tour, which kicks off May 8 in Fresno, Calif.
