If Taylor Swift’s phenomenal success has provided an opening for female teen singers, Connecticut native Veronica Ballestrini sounds ready and able to take advantage of it. Her debut album carries a youthful ebullience that makes it a natural fit for Taylor’s fans, and her voice is immediately likeable. The hitch is that while Taylor made her name by writing honestly about her own point of view as a teenage girl trying to figure out the confusing world around her, What I’m All About finds Veronica too often singing one-size-fits-all outside material that doesn’t tell us what she really is all about.
