"My dad's a Southern Baptist preacher, so I always sang in the choir and did music for the Sunday morning service," says Randy. "I grew up with a guitar in one hand and a hymn book in the other."
Randy attended Southwest Texas State University, and got his start playing at the Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos-where George Strait cut his teeth. "You walk in there and you feel the magic," marvels Randy.
FORK IN THE ROAD
"I got my degree," he recalls, "and was like, 'Look, am I gonna go and work for somebody else?' I had student loan debt and people saying I should get a real job. But I decided that this is what I'm supposed to be doing. This is what God gave me as a gift."
