Web Exclusive: Cooter Fires It Up

Ben Jones, the loveable “Cooter” from The Dukes of Hazzard, has more than Southern-style cuisine in the oven.

Again this year, Ben helped organize DukesFest, which played to overflow crowds in Nashville, June 2–3. And he has no plans to take the Fest to another city or add more DukesFest events during the year.

“It’s going to stay a once-a-year thing,” says Ben. “It’s very hard to organize the cast, and it is a very big show. And of course, what makes it special is that it is just once a year. Having it in Nashville makes sense because here we’ve got a big racetrack where we can do the car stunts, and country music and the Grand Ole Opry. Our show is very associated with Nashville.”

For Ben’s barbecue and ribs (featured in the July 2, 2007, issue of Country Weekly), he used products from the Boss Hogg line to enhance the flavor, like the company’s rub and barbecue sauce.
