STARS VIE FOR THE AMA'S
Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Sara Evans are among the country nominees for the 29th American Music Awards, which will be presented during a three-hour ABC telecast Jan. 9. The AMAs honor the year's most popular performers in the categories of pop/rock, country, soul/rhythm & blues, adult contemporary, Latin music, contemporary inspirational, rap/hip-hop, alternative and favorite soundtrack.
Country nominees for male artist are Toby Keith, Tim McGraw and Travis Tritt. Vying for favorite female artist are Sara Evans, Faith Hill and Jo Dee Messina. Brooks & Dunn, Lonestar and SHeDAISY are competing for favorite band, duo or group. Favorite album nominees are Brooks & Dunn's Steers & Stripes, Lonestar's I'm Already There and Tim McGraw's Set This Circus Down. Jamie O'Neal, Blake Shelton and Trick Pony are nominated for favorite new artist. And Tim McGraw is also nominated - alongside Destiny's Child, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Shaggy and U2 - for the AMA's big cross-category trophy, the Internet Artist of the Year.
