With songs like “When I Get Where I’m Going,” “Believe” and “Who You’d Be Today,” today’s country charts are filled with songs of faith and spirituality.

Respected country music journalist Alanna Nash reports on this growing trend, where a historic number of songs about faith, healing and religion are scaling the charts. The success of Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” which held the No. 1 spot for six weeks, proves that listeners are hungry for spiritually-themed songs.

“Many fans tell me that ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel’ really means something to them,” says Carrie. “Once a couple of singers do a spiritual song in a way that even nonreligious people can relate to, it makes other artists braver.”
