PICKING UP THE PIECES
Gary Allan soldiers on after wife's suicide.
Gary Allan was a broken man Oct. 25, but he's picking up the pieces of his life. The singer suffered a terrible tragedy that morning when his wife, Angela, was found dead at the family's home near Nashville, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The couple had six children from previous marriages.
Gary immediately cancelled several tour dates. But he's recently hit the road again - and playing for fans is proving to be the therapy he needs. Gary was in perfect form at his Nov. 14 Dallas show at the American Airlines Center.
"I could not tell any difference in his performance," noted Ken Kuhl, the center's director of events. "He didn't have to pause to collect himself or anything like that. The fans were also very warm towards him."
And the No. 1 success of Gary's latest song, "Nothing on but the Radio," has no doubt lifted his spirits as well.
