Look Who’s (Almost) 50!

Aaron Tippin gets the jump on celebrating a milestone birthday.

Aaron Tippin’s going to be on the road for his actual 50th birthday on July 3, so on May 10 his friends at Cracker Barrel (where is new He Believed CD is available), the Grand Ole Opry, the Ernest Tubb Record Shop and the Midnight Jamboree radio show helped him celebrate a little early with wife Thea and sons Teddy, 10, and Tom, 7. Here’s some of what he had to say about the busy day.

On working with Cracker Barrel

“Cracker Barrel and Aaron Tippin is a perfect fit. I really do love workin’ with those folks. They are so into the music. Their hearts are young and they just want you to bring ‘em great music to put in their stores. It feels good to do this for the music.”

On playfully rough-housing with his sons

“I’m for certain that if I don’t get control of them now, later in life I won’t be able to! When they’re 15 or 16, if I ain’t already put the fear of God in ‘em, it ain’t gonna happen then!”

On being on the Opry the night of Carrie Underwood’s induction

“It was special bein’ there for Carrie gettin’ into the Opry. I was blessed to be there for that. She’s the hottest thing since sliced bread! To be a part of that and shake her hand and say congratulations was really cool.”
