Kenny Chesney: Inside My Life

A candidly personal look inside Kenny’s amazing life and the making of his new album—written exclusively for Country Weekly by Kenny himself!

Kenny shares several stories from the recording of his upcoming new album, Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates. One of the album highlights for Kenny was having George Strait sing on the song “Shiftwork.” Kenny tells Country Weekly, “[George] sang on a song that’s unlike anything I’ve ever cut—and it may be the most unusual song on the record.”

Kenny also talks about “Not Today,” which he believes his fans will find relevant. “It’s one of those songs that kinda looks back, but it also sets up the contrast between growing up and growing old,” he writes. Kenny adds, “The longer I live, the more I realize how important being happy is. In some ways, it’s truly up to us—how we live our life, where we put our energy.”
