When Dixie Chick Emily Erwin first met Texas singer/songwriter Charlie Robison, she was totally love-bug bitten. "I've found my soul mate," she declared to her Chick mates, sister Martie Seidel (now Maguire) and Natalie Maines.

That inspired Martie to write a special song for her sister, "Cowboy Take Me Away" - a romantic ode that evoked images of bluebonnets, "a blanket made of stars" and the liberating feeling of true love. Martie recalled, "I was thinking of the peacefulness of the old Calgon commercials, you know, 'Calgon, take me away.' I wrote it with Emily and Charlie in mind."

Emily and Charlie tied the knot on May 1, 1999, and "Cowboy Take Me Away" was the perfect song to mark the occasion. Martie and Natalie performed a fittingly solemn version at the wedding ceremony, then during the reception, Emily joined in for a much looser rendition.

"We were completely out of tune," said Emily with a laugh, "because we had too many margaritas. But it was still touching." "Cowboy Take Me Away" touched fans, too - and the single became the Chicks' fourth No. 1 hit on Feb. 5, 2000.
