In the late '80s, no country female was hotter than Reba McEntire. The numbers spoke for themselves - four straight CMA Female Vocalist honors (1984-87), CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1986, more than a dozen No. 1 hits.

But Reba also dreamed of branching out. "I was looking for television and movie roles," she explained. "But every script I was offered had me as a girl singer in a country band playing in a honky-tonk. That's what I did for a living!"

Finally, in 1989, the right role came along. Reba was handed a script for a campy sci-fi film, Tremors, starring Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward. After several auditions, she got the part of a no-nonsense survivalist who helps battle an onslaught of giant subterranean worms.

Tremors debuted in theaters Jan. 19, 1990, and went on to become a cable-TV favorite. "I really did love it," declared Reba. "It had a terrific story and the cast was great." Since then, Reba has made more movies, such as North and One Night At McCool's, and now stars in her own smash TV sitcom, Reba.
