Country's coolest customer just keeps getting cooler. With the multiplatinum success of his latest album, Drive, a blockbuster tour and his face beaming from televisions and magazine covers, it's clear that America has a hard time resisting his homespun allure.

At first glance, Alan hardly fits the definition of "Entertainer" at all -- he speaks only quietly and reluctantly, and he doesn't include a lot of frills and fireworks in his music or his stage show. But maybe it's exactly those qualities that his millions of fans find so entertaining.

His straightforward, soft-spoken manner lets everyone know that he's not trying to pull one over or make you believe he's something he's not. He simply writes great songs, sings them in that unmistakable voice, and hopes you like them. Clearly the ACM does -- he goes into this year's show with six nominations.

"As far as my career, I've been so blessed already it's hard to reach out for much more," says Alan. "I just think I'm mighty fortunate I'm still around and able to make the kind of country music I like, and still get played and have people buying it. I'm just real comfortable there."
