Rodney Carrington has released a few songs on his comedy albums over the past few years, but El Niño Loco represents a headfirst leap into the music world—this is all tunes, no talk. Rodney has a couple of aces up his sleeve, though: First of all, he can actually sing; and second, his Beer for My Horses movie co-star (and co-writer) Toby Keith is on hand as producer. Rodney addresses his usual topics—beer and breasts figure prominently—and hits more often than he misses, even in this riskier format. Only the sappy closer, “Funny Man,” lands with a thud.
