Wherever You Are
Jack has been on the cusp of major-league success before, and may be again with his new single "Wherever You Are" climbing the charts. But that song, for all its roots-pop charm, is among the least of the highlights of this disc, made up mostly of live performances at Texas' legendary Gruene Hall. The album as a whole suffers from choppy editing, with a studio track awkwardly tacked on at each end. But every individual performance is a smoking indication that Jack is a hotshot onstageand an artist to keep an eye on. Matthew Everett
