Valentine's Day Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

No soundtrack about love is complete without country music. Thankfully, in addition to songs by classic crooner Nat King Cole and soul-pop princess Amy Winehouse, this collection features tracks by Willie Nelson, Taylor Swift and newcomers Steel Magnolia. Taylor makes two contributions to the soundtrack: the dreamy pop confections “Today Was a Fairytale” and “Jump Then Fall,” which both revel in love’s early stage of infatuation. Duo Steel Magnolia brings what may be the soundtrack’s most soulful song, the passionate “Keep On Lovin’ You.” Willie’s piano-driven rendition of Nat King Cole’s “On the Street Where You Live” lends a warm, sensual aspect to his laid-back vocal. Jewel’s catchy “Stay Here Forever” is an upbeat pleaser. Still, if the producers really wanted great love songs for this collection, they could have mined a little deeper into country music’s rich vault for songs like “Forever and Ever, Amen,” “Feels So Right,” or “When You Say Nothing at All.”
