Unleashed by Toby Keith

Who let the dog out? Toby Keith has Unleashed his fury over the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American),” a patriotic—some might say over the top—bark about pride, nationalism and retaliation.

And it's not the only song on the Oklahoma native's seventh album to deal with the emotional fallout from that event. "It's All Good" is a song of gratitude for health and happiness in a world where, as Toby sings, You can't even open a mailbox, you can't take a plane. In "Beer For My Horses"—a rocking number featuring Willie Nelson—Toby is again drawing a hard line for justice.

But vengeful anger is far from the only emotion to be found on Unleashed. There's heartbreak in “Losing My Touch,” “Ain’t It Just Like You” and “That’s Not How It Is,” and hope and romance in “Huckleberry,” “Rock You Baby” and “Rodeo Moon,” a tune Toby co-wrote with Chris LeDoux.

The album is filled with strong melodies, in styles ranging from country rockers and sentimental ballads to the mariachi flavor of “Good To Go To Mexico.” And for those who like a little levity, “Who’s Your Daddy?” is this album’s "I Wanna Talk About Me.”

Whether laughing at the world or snarling at it, Unleashed is always as earthy and real as Toby Keith himself.
