Tim Rushlow (Atlantic)

Album Cover for tim Rushlow

Tim Rushlow was the voice of Little Texas, a band that racked up almost 20 hits despite a formulaic, pop-country sound with more Eagles gloss than Nashville twang. But while his voice still recalls a countrified Don Henley, there's nothing bland or blasé about Tim's debut solo album.

You've probably already heard the Top 20 hit "She Misses Him," a touching story about a loyal wife dealing with her husband's devastating Alzheimer's disease. What could have been maudlin fluff is saved by Tim's warmly convincing vocal, and it's just one example of how good he sounds on his own.

Another is the opening track, "Then There's Me," a smoothly rocking plea for a would-be sweetie to take another chance on love. He co-wrote that one, but Tim also delivers strong material by other writers, including the dramatic ballad "I Live" and the hook-filled "Everything To You."

Tim has already defied the long odds of a first- time solo hit with the success of "She Misses Him." Only one album into his post-Little Texas career, he has shown he can stand on his own.
