Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada: Original Soundtrack

The combination of songs and score assembled for the soundtrack to actor Tommy Lee Jones' directorial debut seems ungainly at first—country tracks of varying vintages sit among instrumentals by composer Marco Beltrami. But well-chosen songs from artists as varied as Dwight Yoakam, Hank Williams Jr. and Flaco Jimenez add up to a cohesive sonic portrait in conjunction with the evocative score, effectively conjuring the movie's journey from Texas to Mexico.   —Chris Neal
