A Taste of the Truth

Now 65, Gene Watson continues to quietly crank out albums at a regular clip despite a constantly shifting array of record labels and the changing tastes of the marketplace. A Taste of the Truth is another solid entry in his discography, offering proof yet again of both Gene’s undimmed vocal prowess and taste in songs. Of particular interest here is the handful of duets, including a number with Trace Adkins that takes explicit exception to the George Strait-Alan Jackson hit “Murder on Music Row”—“We’ve Got a Pulse” argues convincingly that great traditional country music is alive and well, whether it gets on the radio or not.
