Straight From the Heart

Daryle’s first album in five years will satisfy fans who just plain want to hear him sing great songs—Straight From the Heart replicates the classic-country- covers formula of 2002’s That’s Why I Sing This Way. And certainly, you can’t go wrong when a hard-core honky-tonk voice like Daryle’s meets a timeless tune like Merle Haggard’s “Bottle Let Me Down” or Buck Owens’ “I’ve Got a Tiger by the Tail.” But it’s been nine years now since his last album of entirely new material—and that’s a lot of time to spend looking backward instead of forward.
