This Texas quartet’s second offering takes their Jack Ingram-esque sound into more personal territory. “All of a Sudden” laments that breakups usually equal the loss of a friend as well as a lover, while “Oh, Tonight,” featuring Kacey Musgrave’s Miranda Lambert-like vocals, find a young duo ready to become more than friends. Lead singer Josh wrote or co-wrote every song here, making for creative and sometimes offbeat lyrics that keep these understated songs interesting. The intimate “Hot Water,” written with Tom Worth and Angie Broberg, is a standout on this CD. Don’t let the laid-back country sound fool you—this band has serious roots.
