Rebels on the Run by Montgomery Gentry

The men of Montgomery Gentry have taken some hard knocks in the past year, but with their latest album, it’s clear they know how to take a punch and keep the good-time tunes rolling.

Eddie Montgomery battled prostate cancer and went through a divorce, with Troy Gentry there to support him. Still, with producer Michael Knox (Jason Aldean), the duo has managed to create an album that is classic Montgomery Gentry.

On the lead-off track, “Damn Right I Am,” they take blatant pride in their families and the soldiers who protect their country. “Ain’t No Law Against That,” “So Called Life” and “Work Hard, Play Harder” ramp up the party vibe several notches, while the duo’s current single, “Where I Come From,” shares a similar sentiment (and title) with Alan Jackson’s 2001 song about small-town life. A few of the duo’s famous friends, Charlie Daniels and Alabama’s Randy Owen, take a turn at the mic in “I Like Those People,” an ode to hardworking men and women.
