On his latest solo effort, the onetime Shenandoah singer combines the varied strains of music he has pursued since leaving the band in 1996. If the result doesn’t entirely cohere, it does present a fully rounded portrait of Marty’s musical universe. Putting aside the question of which one is which, This, That & the Other roughly covers country, bluegrass and gospel, with tracks alternating amiably among the genres. Marty is in good voice throughout, demonstrating his easy way with this, that, the other and a few other elements to boot.
