Nashville Rebel

This collection of archival clips opens with a shockingly clean-shaven Waylon playing “Only Daddy That’ll Walk the Line” on a 1970 episode of The Johnny Cash Show. By the second song (a 1974 tear through “Honky Tonk Heroes” for Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert), Waylon has grown his trademark beard and, more importantly, taken the reins of his artistic vision. For the rest of Nashville Rebel, we see that vision deepen, broaden and adapt (with varying levels of success) to the changing times.
