“Mine Would Be You” by Blake Shelton

Blake has yet to meet a ballad he didn’t fall in love with, and it’s an affair he keeps going with “Mine Would Be You.”

Sure, we all know he can be a good ol’ bro with spit-kickin’ tunes like last single “Boys ’Round Here,” but while those may be guilty pleasures, it’s debatable if they further his status as a vocalist.

Such an argument isn’t valid when it comes to his slower fare, however. Listen to “Mine Would Be You” and you understand exactly what makes Blake one of country’s smoothest crooners.

And the lyrics, all wonderfully crafted and fresh and written by Jessi Alexander, Connie Harrington and Deric Ruttan, only help Blake weave his magic. The third single released from Based on a True Story . . . , “Mine” may be our favorite.
