Love’s Funny That Way sticks too closely to the middle of the road, and the lush sound too often obscures Kathie’s voice. But when Kathie soars, as on the haunting “All Fall Down” or a sublime version of Vince Gill’s “Never Knew Lonely” with the author singing harmony, there’s no stopping her.
