Lonely Runs Both Ways

The first new album from Alison and company in three years sticks closely to the mood and format of the previous one, New Favorite. There are melancholy numbers featuring Alison's otherworldly voice, earthier tunes from guitarist Dan Tyminski, and plenty of spotlight left for their bandmates. Lonely is lovely, but it would be nice to hear something a little different from these reliable talents next time.
