Live at Texas Stadium

It would be difficult to find three other musical superstars whose styles and audiences mesh so naturally as those of George, Alan and Jimmy—after all, each is an icon of easygoing charm. The three came together for a May 29, 2004, concert date at Texas Stadium in Dallas, immortalized three years later on this live CD.

The trio collaborates in varying combinations on eight of the 15 tracks on Live at Texas Stadium, and those moments are its most memorable. The full lineup assembles for “Hey Good Lookin’” and “Margaritaville,” but it’s also a kick to hear Jimmy and George sailing through the Don Gibson chestnut “Sea of Heartbreak,” Alan and Jimmy reprising their hit “Five O’Clock Somewhere” or Alan and George firing up “Designated Drinker.” The odd sequencing throws the balance off, though—the album ends with three Alan solo cuts, leaving the listener wondering where those other guys went.
