Live: Live Those Songs Again

A Kenny Chesney concert is an event—an opportunity to hoist a margarita or three with country’s head partier and thousands of like-minded revelers. But you can’t digitize that kind of atmosphere onto a CD, and its absence leaves Kenny’s first live album feeling a little incomplete. Without the high spirits, what’s left are note-perfect renditions of one wistful, mid-tempo song about regret and lost love after another, smothered in crowd noise so loud and fervent it’s like listening to a Kenny Chesney studio album while sitting on the wing of an airplane. Guess you had to be there.
