The Life of a Song by Joey+Rory
CMT’s Can You Duet talent competition turned up a hearteningly healthy number of promising country duos, including married couple Joey Martin and Rory Feek. The two had to settle for third place on the show, but they earned themselves a record deal anyway. As its title warns, their debut album spends a little too much of its time on songs about songs (“Play the Song,” “Sweet Emmylou,” the title cut). Nonetheless, The Life of a Song is stuffed with all the charm, warmth, winsome melodies and superfine harmonies fans of the show will expect.
