Last of the Breed

Last of the Breed documents a summit meeting of three of country music’s most hallowed names, but there’s no pretension or pompousness here—just a trio of old friends swapping songs and enjoying one another’s company. The two-CD, 22-track Last might be a bit too much of a good thing, but it’s hard to complain when these elder statesmen (Ray is 81, Willie is 73 and junior member Merle is but 70) keep things humming along with such good-natured grace and natural chemistry.
