Judge Jerrod Rocks the Stockyards

"Free the music, Forth Worth!" The message was clear and country when Jerrod Niemann and his band took the stage at Academy of Country Music Nightclub of the Year Billy Bob's Texas, located in Forth Worth's legendary Stockyards historic district, last Friday (Oct. 5).

Fans weren't shy about pressing to the front of the stage to get the best view and best listen as Jerrod showcased his biggest hits, including "What Do You Want" and "Lover, Lover," along with tunes from his latest album, Free the Music, which put the spotlight on his shiny, new brass section.

Not only did the addition to the band bring more sound to the set, it also added a fresh energy, as the brass trio strolled to the front of the stage for several songsincluding Jerrod's most recent hit, "Shinin' on Me." The packed house may have initially been a little puzzled by the additional players, but well before the halfway point of the show, they were releasing thunderous applause each time the lights hit the horns.

Jerrod took some musical risks with Free the Music and he's obviously not afraid to take those risks in his live show as well. But from the sound of the enthusiastic response at Billy Bob's Texas, it's clear that with great risk comes great reward.
