I Told You So: The Ultimate Hits of Randy Travis

This two-disc overview of Randy’s sterling career—not so coincidentally titled after his 1988 classic, now a hit again in Carrie Underwood’s version—does a perfectly fine job of collecting most of the crucial cuts from his still-growing catalog. The marvelous music here deserves all the stars we can throw at it, so why only four? It’s because the superior 2002 two-disc best-of, Trail of Memories: The Randy Travis Anthology, sported a dozen more tracks. I Told You So does scoop up a few more recent gems, including the hit “Three Wooden Crosses” and two fine new tracks, but you’re still better off with the previous collection.
