I Remember Elvis

In the mid-1950s, Wanda's tourmate Elvis Presley encouraged her to sing rock 'n' roll, setting her on the musical path that would lead her to stardom. She repays the favor with this set of Elvis covers that demonstrates not only her own enduring vitality but the durability of the mostly Sun Records-era tunes she tackles here. Now 68, Wanda's well-preserved, rough-and-ready vocals are ideally suited to this material (also including one autobiographical King-inspired original, "I Wore Elvis' Ring"), producer Danny Harvey keeps the sound aptly raw, and another famous Elvis (Costello) provides insightful liner notes.
