Here and Now

Darryl’s first album for Neal McCoy’s 903 Music record company after a major-label merger made him a free agent last year is all about fresh starts—song titles like “Free” and “Living in the Here and Now” tell the story before the CD is even cued up. Here and Now is filled with odes to independence, not to mention quite a few tips of the bottle to alcohol-fueled bad behavior. Darryl sounds like he’s having a blast, and when he gets serious (“Things I’ll Never Do Again,” “Slow Dancing With a Memory”) the impact is just as powerful.
