Heart of Stone

Kentucky-born Chris Knight has made his name as a storyteller, carving out finely detailed narratives about characters trying to keep pushing forward in a world that keeps pushing back. Gary Allan and Blake Shelton are among the artists who have covered Chris’ songs, which should give some indication of his combination of wry humor and raw emotion. His own sixth album finds Chris spending less time in character and more time as himself, especially on the bluntly autobiographical “Home Sick Gypsy.” It’s a role that suits him.
