As He Wanders

This five-piece outfit from the Lone Star State sounds like the perfect respectable country bar band. Rebecca Cannon’s thin and slightly sassy vocals fit well alongside Billy Malkus’ folksy delivery. Relationships are at the center of most tracks here, from the pedal-steel-laden “Tear Drops or Rain” to the honky-tonk good-time shuffle “Stunt Double,” about a guy who would rather have a stunt double step in during the hard times of his romantic relationships. These country and folk-inspired tunes are beautifully spiced with hints of mandolin and fiddle, and are good for some Texas two-stepping.
