Gunslinger

Keni Thomas is a former Army Ranger and current part-time motivational speaker, and elements of both disciplines apply to his sophomore album—Gunslinger is as disciplined and well-executed as a military maneuver, and the man at its center conveys a mix of likability and urgency that must be mighty motivating indeed. Gunslinger keeps things up and optimistic: “In God’s Hands” and “Billboards 4 Jesus” thoughtfully address spirituality, while the only target in the title track turns out to be the love of a woman.
