Grand Champion: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

George Strait fans beware: the cover of this kid-friendly rodeo movie soundtrack may trumpet GEORGE STRAIT in letters bigger than the name of the flick itself, but actual George content is limited to his 12-year-old version of Bob Wills' "Big Balls in Cowtown" with Asleep at the Wheel. A nifty cut, but true Strait devotees wore it out a decade ago.

The rest of the CD is dominated by pleasant score music, as well as previously released gems from Texas staples like Robert Earl Keen ("Barbeque") and Charlie Robison ("My Hometown"). The most legitimate lure is one new track from Willie Nelson, a surprisingly tentative stab at singer/songwriter Kimmie Rhodes' "Born in a Barn."
