Everything Is Fine by Josh Turner

Josh’s earthquake baritone is a blessing and a curse—he can easily overpower a song that’s too flimsy for his voice, and each of his first two albums sported a couple of clunkers to prove it. Everything Is Fine does too, but it also has some startling high points.

The epic, modern folk ballad “The Longer the Waiting,” the scorching soul-steeped Anthony Hamilton duet “Nowhere Fast,” and the cunning gospel parable “The Way He Was Raised” all suggest a rapidly developing artist who’s ready and able to push country tradition into uncharted territory.
