The sweetest treat here is hearing Lee Ann Womack truly stretch—as she makes her way through all five surreal verses of “The Weight,” we’re more than a little past “Little Rock.” Elsewhere, Josh Turner finds a song equal to his titanic voice in the Bob Dylan-penned “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” and a roster of other rock and country acts attempt, with varying levels of success, to re-create a chemistry that was entirely unique.
