After parting ways several years ago with longtime collaborator Dwight Yoakam, ace guitarist and producer Pete Anderson set about developing new talent through his Little Dog record label. His latest find is Adam Hood, an Alabama-born singer and songwriter with roots in country, rock and soul and a knack for finding a nifty turn of phrase in even shopworn sentiments. Pete himself offers backup on a variety of instruments and, as producer, keeps the rock-solid material swinging throughout. But as the three acoustic bonus cuts attest, Adam delivers just fine with a voice and guitar alone.
