Cowboy Town by Brooks & Dunn

Ronnie Dunn gets a lot of attention, and deservedly so—he can put a country song across like few other vocalists in any genre. But it’s Kix Brooks’ contributions that set Cowboy Town apart in a country landscape suddenly rife with duos taking aim at their crown.

Kix tracks like “Drop in the Bucket,” “Chance of a Lifetime” and especially the rollicking “The Ballad of Jerry Jeff Walker” (with a hilarious guest turn from the titular country legend) add an element of playful unpredictability to more traditionally winning tracks like Ronnie’s hit “Proud of the House We Built.”
