Loveless’ Red-Eye Gravy

Country stars get their down-home food fix at one of Nashville’s most famous landmarks, the Loveless Cafe.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. country ham
  • ½ cup coffee
  • 3 tbsp. firmly packed
  • brown sugar
  • 2 cups water

Preparation

  1. Place ham pieces into large cast-iron skillet.
  2. Begin cooking when ham starts to juice.
  3. Pour in coffee and brown sugar.
  4. Fill skillet the rest of the way up with water.
  5. Bring water to a boil—and you’re done!

Serves 4–6
