Country’s long-ago fascination with the art of truck driving is making a comeback, as demonstrated by recent album-length tributes to the long-haul culture from Aaron Tippin and Dale Watson. Add veteran comic Ray Stevens to the road-running renaissance, as One for the Road offers up 15 songs set (mostly) in the truck cabs and truck stops of America. The production is a little sterile for such a naturally gritty topic, but Ray is in fine voice at age 70 and his energetic delivery is as engaging as ever.
