Fans in the tens of thousands descended on downtown Oklahoma City starting Friday, June 27, for the city’s first OKC Fest musical festival .
From the looks of the pictures, that goal was met. But why wouldn’t it be? They had an amazing lineup!
The two-day event featured superstar acts Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum, Kix Brooks, Merle Haggard and Scott McCreery. Stand-out Texas-based acts like Randy Rogers Band, Josh Abbott Band and Casey Donahew Band took the main stage as well. Up-and-comers Jaida Dryer and Lucas Hoge opened the main stage on Friday and Saturday. And many other artists performed on other festival stages.
There were even a few surprises, like Norman, Okla.’s own Toby Keith making a special appearance with the Hag!

Noticeably absent from the bill, though, were Okies Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and Garth Brooks. Ronnie Dunn—who lived in Tulsa for many years—seemed a little surprised (perhaps hurt?) to learn about the event the day before it started.
Keep in mind, most of these artists’ concert schedules are booked way in advance, so it’s likely they already had commitments for this year.
Who knows what the lineup could be like for the second annual OKC Fest? We do know for sure that these artists are proud to be Okies from Muskogee, McAlester, Checotah, Ada, Tulsa and so on.
