If you’d like to see what the face of grace looks like, then you may want to subscribe to the blog (This Life I Live ) written by Joey+Rory’s Rory Feek and read about his amazing wife, Joey.
Earlier this year, Joey and Rory welcomed a daughter, Indiana Boon Feek, to their family. It was Joey’s first child and Rory’s third. Shortly after Indiana’s birth, the couple took their new bundle to the doctor where they were told that their infant likely had Down syndrome. Tests were done, the news was confirmed and the hard news was delivered to the couple, who turned to their faith for comfort.
Since then, Rory’s blog has mostly been sweet, fun, love-filled and often humorous posts about the Feek family and their adventures on the farm.
Until this morning when, after an extended absence from blogging, Rory posted :
“It’s been almost a month since my last post. And though I had planned, and even written some entries to share (like my trip in May to the Amish with my sister Marcy and the day I spent making homemade strawberry jam with Joey), it didn’t seem right to post stories like that right now . . . not with the story that has been unfolding in our lives for the last six weeks.”
He then goes on to reveal that Joey had undergone a hysterectomy to remove the cervical cancer she had been diagnosed with earlier in May.
Maybe it was a cure. Or a miracle. But it’s definitely a blessing, as they seemingly caught the cancer early. Joey won’t need chemotherapy or radiation.
“Yes, it has been quite a year for us so far,” wrote Rory. “In the past six months, God has taken us places we never dreamed we would go. It’s been terrifying and thrilling all at the same time. We never know what tomorrow will bring . . . none of us do. But what an incredible journey life is. We are just going to continue to trust Him and hold to each other and . . . pedal, pedal!”
Country Weekly sends warm, healing wishes to Joey as she recovers from surgery and to the whole family for personifying amazing grace.
