Luke Bryan’s career has been on the fast and steady climb to new levels, and the proof came Thursday (June 5) when he celebrated not one . . . not two . . . not three . . . but four recent No. 1 singles.
Luke’s “Crash My Party” (written by Rodney Clawson and Ashley Gorley), “That’s My Kind of Night” (Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davidson and Chris DeStefano), “Drink a Beer” (Chris Stapleton and Jim Beavers) and “Play It Again” (Ashley Gorley and Dallas Davidson) were all celebrated at Nashville’s The Bridge Building, overlooking the Cumberland River.
While those in attendance enjoyed the array of fine finger foods, homemade chips and decadent dips, Luke and the writers spoke of their combined successes, including the reasons behind lumping all the celebrating into one large bash.
“I do regret having to do it this way,” admitted Luke from the party. “For me, I want to honor the songwriters and give them the glory to enjoy their moment. We got two No. 1 parties behind, and all these guys schedules are equally as busy as mine. Every time we tried to make something happen—and more times than none it was [because of] me—something happened. But we’re here now, and this is an awesome day. It’s an awesome feeling.”
In addition to the plaques for the individual songs, Luke also received one commemorating the double-platinum status of his Crash My Party album, which spawned all four hits.
